The sun is out, the temps are in the low 70’s, spring flowers are popping up; these are wonderful reminders that Spring Break is almost here. Its hard to believe that we were just having snowball fights a few weeks ago. I hope that your classes are going well and that you are able to stay focused. This week we have the Gathering at 8pm on Wednesday in the FOC Auditorium, hope to see you there. Come at 7pm for some food and fellowship in the tf building. The band will lead us in worship, we will have time for testimonies and prayer and we will take up our offering for our India Kids. Our topic for this semester in the teaching time has been on suffering and glorifying God, we will continue to look at God’s Word to see how these apply to our lives as Christ followers.

News:

• There will be no tf activities the week of ATU Spring Break
• Our tf Spring Retreat is April 30th - May 2. Please keep in mind that the $50 retreat fee is due March 31st at the Gathering. If you have not had a chance to sign up to attend please let me know as soon as possible. This is a great way to relax on the weekend before Finals. The retreat is on Mt Nebo in the Summit Lodge.

This Monday morning in our prayer meeting at 7am in Doc’s Place we had alot of requests for prayer regarding class work and testing. There are weeks in a semester that seem to be tougher with regards to your academics. I hope that you are able to manage and schedule everything that you need to.  Tech Fellowship has always felt that as a student your main purpose is to prioritize school and then in that journey if we as a campus ministry can support or encourage you that is our desire. It is a privelege to be apart of your lives here at TECH.

YOU will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in YOU.
Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD is the Rock eternal!  Isaiah 26:3,4

Here are some tf events to consider over the next couple weeks:

• Wednesday, February 17 - meet at FOC at 5pm and visit the Atkins Nursing Home, 7pm hang out in the tf building, 8pm Guys and Girls Bible Studies in Colossians at FOC.
• Monday, February 22 - Monday Prayer at 7am in Doc’s Place
• Wednesday, February 24 - 7pm snacks in the tf building, 8pm the Gathering
• Saturday, February 27 - 4pm and 6pm tf is attending the Golden Suns and Wonder Boys season ending basketball games vs. Christian Brothers University.
• Sunday, February 28 - Worship at 11am at FOC, enjoy lunch together at a local resturant after the service and then spend the afternoon hiking or floating at an Arkansas State Park.

Glorify…to magnify, to light up brilliantly
Suffering…to submit to or be forced to endure, to labor under

All thoughout scripture there is a connection between suffering and glorifying God. This semester at the Gathering we will be studying, exchanging truth, and teaching on this topic. All over the world the Body of Christ is glorifying God in there suffering, its time for us to grasp the depths of what God has for us and the Kingdom of Heaven relating to suffering for the glorification of God.

Philippians 3:7-10
But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ - the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his suffering, becoming like him in his death…

I hope to see you at our first Gathering for the spring semester, as always the tf band will lead us in worship, there will be time for testimonies, prayer, and personal ministry. The Gathering is a very interactive experience, come and be apart.
The Gathering is at 8pm in the FOC Auditorium this Wednesday, Jan. 27th. Come at 7pm and hang-out with us in the tf building on the FOC campus as we enjoy some good food and community together before we go into the Gathering.

How about we submit to the Tech Administration that we go to three day weekends and every week start on Tuesday. Nothing like a four day class schedule! I hope that you are settled in this week and for sure for the spring semester. In this post I want to catch you up to date on whats on the calender for the Spring. We look forward to having you apart.

Every spring semester tf hosts a Spring Retreat. The dates for this years retreat are April 16-18. Please mark these dates are your calender so that you can make sure you attend this awesome weekend. We will spend three day and two night at the Summit House on Mt. Nebo. I will have the total cost for the weekend in a few weeks, last year the weekend cost $50/person which included food and lodging. We spend the time enjoying games, rest, food, worship and Bible study, hiking and whatever else you find to do. Make plans early to be apart.

Last semester we talked in this blog and at the Gathering about the value of community and studying God’s Word. We committed to making those two things a big part of our spring semester. Here is our plan to accomplish both of these important aspects of our lives together in tf.
Starting this Wednesday, January 20th we are beginning a Girls and Guys Bible Study at 8pm. Bethany Palmer will lead the girls and I will lead the guys. We are very excited about what God will do in these times together as we study His Word. The evening actually begins at 7pm with a time of food and fellowship in the tf building beside the FOC church building and then at 8pm we will split up for our studies. These studies will take place on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday nights and the Gathering will take place at 8pm on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday’s in the FOC Auditorium.Our time of food and fellowship will happen every Wednesday at 7pm in the tf building. Put it on your weekly to-do list to hang with us on Wednesday evenings. I look forward to seeing you there tomorrow evening.

Just a few reminders for next week, we start our Monday Prayer in Doc’s Place at 7am this coming Monday January 25th and next Wednesday January 27th will be our first Gathering for the semester.
Come cheer on Tech this Saturday at 4 and 6 as the basketball teams compete with Delta State in conference games.

Its great to have you back on the campus and starting the spring semester. I hope that you had a restful winter break. There are many plans for Tech Fellowship for the semester but before we get into that I want to take some time and share our heart with you for the first week back.

Each January Fellowship of Christians takes time to hear from God for the new year. Tech Fellowship is joining in with FOC in our week long emphasis of worship and fasting. There will be nightly worship gatherings at the church auditorium starting at 6pm monday thru friday. Also, each day at noon you can come to the church for prayer and personal ministry. Prayer is in the auditorium and the personal ministry will be in the conference room. As we seek God in unity as the Body we are believing for power from the Holy Spirit, healing in our lives and direction for the new year as we seek to serve the Kingdom of Heaven. The dates are Jan. 11-15, 2010.
Fasting is also being encouraged so that as we seek to step toward God we step away from something for a time to better focus on what God might be saying.

Tech Fellowship has not scheduled any activities for this week so that we can give all of attention to hearing from God. We would love to see you as much as possible, stay in touch and in next weeks post look for new information for the spring semester with Tech Fellowship.

Finals are here, I know that you do not need me to remind you. I hope that you do well and find some time to get some sleep in the middle of all your studying.
I have enjoyed getting to enjoy this semester with you and am looking forward to a great spring semester. Before we get there though I know that you want to enjoy your month off. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Look for a post or two over the break on the tf website. Soak up all the love of friends and family!

Those of you that were able to help in our service project at Choices Pregnancy you did a great job. How about Family Day on Sunday, it was great. I really enjoyed getting to meet so many family members.  Please mark on your calenders that our fall tf Retreat is coming up on December 4th. We are camping out on the banks of Lake Dardenelle. I am sure a campfire will be burning all night long. See you back in Russellville in a few days.

Tonight is our last Gathering, that is hard to believe. I would love to see all of you there. We meet at 8pm in the Auditorium of Fellowship of Christians Church. Our tf band will lead worship, Anna will share a brief testimony and encouragement, we  will celebrate Jesus by having communion and I will share a few thought from God’s Word. Megan is preparing brownies and lemon cake; yea, I’ll see you there! Tonight we will discuss these activities as we close out the fall semester.

• November 18th we are meeting for an evening of food and fellowship in the tf building.
• November 21st tf is serving Choices Pregnancy Resourse Center with a Fall Clean-Up!
• November 22nd is Tech Fellowship’s Family Day at Fellowship of Christians. We will worship and enjoy a meal together.
• December 4th is the tf Fall Camp-Out Retreat on Lake Dardanelle.
• December 13th is the end of the semester Words in Season for tf.

I look forward to seeing you tonight, remember to bring a offering for our kids in India and keep pushing toward Finals Week.

How many of you dressed up in a costume last week, trust me facebook never lies. It was fun to see some of you last week at the Tailgate Party on Saturday.

Tonight at 7pm come and hang out with us at the tf building, we call it the Spot. There will be snacks along with soda and hot drinks. Last week we talked about community and this is a great way to make that more than a good concept. There is not a set time or agenda. Games will be available along with a big screen tv for video games or movies. We would love to hear any of your ideas for other Wednesday nights this semester. Bring a friend and lets enjoy some time together. See you there.

A few other events that we are planning are Parents Day at Fellowship of Christians on November 22nd, worship at 11am and a meal with our families at 12:30pm. We need your parents addresses so that we can send them an invitation. Bring them tonight or send them to scott@techfellowship.org
November 21st is a planned service project at Choices Pregnancy Resourse Center.
December 4th is an overnight retreat/camp-out on Lake Dardanelle.
December 13th is our tf Words in Season night with a meal together. More info on this night to come later.

Even a rainy Tuesday in the fall can be pretty. With all the leaves changing into their beautiful colors not even rain can ruin the beauty of nature this time of year. Besides there are other benefits to a rainy day; warm coffee or tea, a hoodie or maybe a scarf, how about those warm boots so feet stay dry. See there,  I talked you into loving this rainy Tuesday!

I hope that your week is going well. Here is some good news, I just counted and I think you have only 26 days of class left before FINALS! The fall semester always goes so fast for me, I hope for you as well. I know that for some of you this is your last semester, finish hard at the end. Here are some activities that you might choose to be apart of over the next couple weeks with Tech Fellowship.

• This Wednesday, October 28th tf is hosting another Gathering. Our band will lead us in worship, we will have teaching and testimonies along with prayer and fellowship. We hope to see you. This Gathering is our last opportunity to give this month for our kids in India, please bring a generous offering to bless our kids. Also we are collecting bags of candy to help support Kids Fest that will be held at the Hughes Center on Saturday. This event is sponsored by TECH students for the kids of Russellville. Lets each bring a bag of candy to donate.
• Delta State comes to TECH this weekend for the last home football game of the year. We will tailgate at 3pm in the grass area beside Williamson. Chili will be served this week along with plenty of hot drinks.
• Here are two dates to put on your calender. November 22nd is Tech Fellowship Parents Day at Fellowship of Christians. The tf band will be leading worship in the morning services and then we will have a meal for you and your parents after the morning service. More info at the Gathering this week. Also, we are working on details for a one night tf fall retreat on December 4th. Keep checking in for more details.
