Community in the Body…its a LIFE issue.

Scott Palmer | October 29, 2009 | 9:05 am

It was great to worship together last night at the Gathering, its always fun to see how the Holy Spirit moves us through the evening. Our time of prayer and personal ministry was awesome, I believe its what God had for us last evening. Here are the thoughts on Community and Relationship that I was going to share last night, of course  we got to live it out rather than just talk about it. That is always a better thing!!

Relationship is a shared life in Christ, expressed through mutual devotion and responsibility to one another.
Fellowship and Shared Lives:
Mutual, loving and truthful sharing of lives in accountable and committed friendships.
Proverbs 27:17, Eccl. 4:9-12, Acts 2:42-47
Pastoring and Mentoring:
Equipping each other through encouragement, accountability and participation in spiritual maturity, Godly character and service in God’s Kingdom.
John 13:34,35  Acts 11:22-26, Ephesians 4:11-13

Please take a moment in your time with God to read these scriptures that support the simple statements. Over the next few weeks as we close out the fall semester and look to the spring semester Tech Fellowship is going to emphasis community in our lives. This semester we have done a good job in corporate worship and service, but another one of our core values is community and the relationships that are developed. Our Wednesday activities at 7pm in the Tech Fellowship Building, Parents Day on Nov. 22nd and our retreat before finals are great ways to build community. As we plan for the spring our LIFE Groups (small group informal fellowship) and FOCUS (small group Bible Study) are crucial in seeing the community that we desire for Tech Fellowship. As you read this today I would love to hear any of your comments, these can be given at the bottom of the post. God Bless You Today.

Why We Do What We Do

Scott Palmer | February 25, 2009 | 1:26 pm

Over the past few weeks I have laid out the 3 major areas of strategy that make up the call and passion of Tech Fellowship. What I want to do now is show how the things that we do align themselves with who we want to be. We want to be true to who we say we are. There are many good things to do but if something does not align itself with who we are then we should not be putting our efforts into it even though it has value for someone else.

Awareness of Jesus:
theSpot, LIFE Groups, Social Activities
Inspire a Christian Worldview:
theGathering, Monday Prayer, FOCUS, Service Projects
Release to the World:
International Students, Service Projects

As you look at our website you can find each of these areas that offer ways to be involved and read a more detailed description. My hope and prayer is that each of us will look to take personal ownership in Tech Fellowship. I am always open to be apart of discussions that will expand what we do when it fits into who we are.

Release to the World

Scott Palmer | | 11:28 am

Simply put, Tech Fellowship desires to be a launching pad for young adults to begin to live “lives on mission”. The DNA for Tech Fellowship in this final stage is MISSION. I purposely did not use the word missions. Every Christ-follower should be on a mission. We are all called, the word missions at times seems to limit itself to only those who have received the call to be involved as a career missionary.  Mark 16:15 issues all of us a command:

Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.

I personally do not care where you go and with what you go;  take your God given passions and talents and go. You do your part, God will do his part; His part is always bigger than your part. As students you are preparing to use that which God has put in your heart to do. This is an exciting time, embrace it with your whole heart.

Live your lives in such a way that the world has to acknowledge you, and when they do give all the glory to God.

Inspire a Christian Worldview

Scott Palmer | February 18, 2009 | 2:42 pm

WOW! Are you serious, this seems like a huge task. I believe it can be compressed into a brief statement:

Be Imitators of God

“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”  Eph. 5:1,2

When Jesus was challenged as to what were the greatest commandments His response was very precise; love God (with all your heart, soul, mind and strength) and love people (your neighbor as you do yourself). In addition to this when Jesus needed an illustration for who would be the greatest He made this statement; “the Son of Man (Jesus Himself) did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many”.

love. serve. live.

These three words are on the Tech Fellowship logo and are the simpliest definition of who we are. The DNA at this stage of Tech Fellowship is WORSHIP and SERVICE. It can be stated like this…

Love God, Love People; Serve God, Serve People; Live Life to the Fullest!

Who We Are

Scott Palmer | January 26, 2009 | 7:23 pm

This week at the Gathering we are going to talk about Tech Fellowships vision, core values and etc. I am very excited about this in that we have so many involved that maybe have never heard this information about why we exist as a campus ministry. Its more than just information though and here’s why.
“The value of knowing who we are is bigger than a personal understanding, its about understanding our role and value individually and collectively within the Kingdom of God at this time. There is a large global purpose of God that was in play before us and will continue after us, the fun and adventure comes in hearing from God how we fit into God’s purposes today.
Every assembly of believers (local church, ministry, christian agency, campus ministry, etc.)
has a specific call and vision to fulfill for the King.”
