News and Information

Scott Palmer | March 17, 2009 | 1:44 pm

I know that everyone is excited about Spring Break, I am as well. My hope and pray is that you will find time to rest and that you will be safe in all that you do. I want to take time in this post to update a number of things that are going on in Tech Fellowship right now.

Thanks to everyone that was able to help in the service project on Sat. We had a great time and got alot of work done, even if a little blood was shed along the way due to the thorns. Those of you that were at the 5k for SigEp we missed you but we know that you had a great time as well. Ben Mills, you did a good job in hosting the race. I know that most of you will be leaving town by Friday for break, with this in mind; if you are signed up to go on the tf retreat I need to get your payment of $50 before you leave. The office at FOC will be opened through Thurs. and of course if you are in church on Sunday I can get it from you then. I have to make the full payment at the beginning of the week. If you are not able to make the payment now but are still planning to attend please call or email me so I can keep accurate records of who is going. This will be a great weekend. I have mentioned to most of you that at the Gathering on April 8th we will be hosting Kevin Turner of Strategic World Impact. I would love for you to view their website to see more of how they are impacting our world for Christ. The address is www.swi.org  You are going to want to hear Kevin speak. God had blessed him with a spirit of humility and boldness. After break there will be more details regarding this special Gathering. How fun is it to say that Tech Fellowship has six kids. I am proud of you and I know that God is glorified in your generous heart. Check out the their website at www.bgchm.org  I have a niece that is at the home in India now, you can find her on facebook at Kristin Marie Palmer. Brad and I are beginning to talk about the details of our sponsorship, more to come on that later. This Thurs. at FOC there is a city-wide service called SYNC. It begins at 7:14 pm and is hosted by local churches in a spirit of unity. If you can make it I know you’ll be blessed. Members of the tf band will be leading worship. Hope to see you there. That’s enough info for now, contact me if you need anything.

You’ll Find Us Where You Are

Scott Palmer | March 10, 2009 | 10:28 am

Hebrews 13:16b (The Message) God takes particular pleasure in acts of worship, a different kind of sacrifice, that takes place in kitchen and workplace and on the streets.

HIS death was a final expression of a life that bled. HIS selfless existence on earth bled for the poor, depressed, lonely, addicted, sick, confused, abused and rejected of society. What we have been taught all of our lives (especially as Americans) is that big celebrities with big bank accounts are the ones that change the world but this is just not true. Anyone who is willing to leave the safety of everyday routine for the sake of saving lives (physical and eternal) can change the world. Take it to the crossroads of life!

Here is a look at our week in Tech Fellowship.

  1. This week at the Gathering we will be choosing our orphan from India, be apart of hearing who God has for us. Anna will be sharing with us, the tf band will lead us in worship, we are taking communion this week and as always come prepared to share a testimony or truth, pray and encourage one another.
  2. March 22nd is our deadline to register to go on the Spring Retreat, if you have your $50 bring it with you and get your name on the reserved list.  April 17-19 is the Retreat on Mt. Nebo.
  3.  At the Gathering there will be a sign-up list to be apart of the service project this Sat. We are looking for 10-12 to be apart of a spring clean-up at the home of the Ratzlaff’s. Lunch will be provided and the project will last throughout the morning and into the early afternoon.
  4. Talk with Ben Mills about participation in this Saturdays SigEp and YouthAIDS 5k run/walk.

I will see you Weds. at 7pm in the FOC Aud. for the Gathering. Stay in touch and have a great week.

Why RELATIONAL ?

Scott Palmer | March 5, 2009 | 10:08 am

Romans 10:9  That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Confess and Believe … It’s simple, but its a big deal. These two words contain all the hope and truth of the Gospel. For a person to grasp the truth of Jesus being Lord of their life and to agree to enter into a covenant relationship with Christ is not a hit and run experience. We should not feel in a rush to get to this point. We need to be involved long term. The heart of relational evangelism is discipleship. It is relational to the point of surrender to Christ and it is relational from that moment on in discipleship. We should be looking everyday to inject truth into the natural flow of life and conversation. Be authentic, ask questions, listen, tell your story; we can trust that God’s redemptive purpose for the people we are in relationship with will be worked out in His soverign way and time.

Here are a few reminders for this week:

  1. tf Spring Retreat on Mt. Nebo. April 17-19  $50 due by March 22nd. Cost includes lodging and food.
  2. Service Project March 14th. Spring lawn clean-up at the Ratzlaff’s. Sign-up at the next Gathering.
  3. Monday Prayer in Doc’s Place at 7am.
  4. March 11th is the next Gathering.
  5. March 14th @ 7:30 am the SigEp and YouthAids 5k Run/Walk. See Ben Mills for registration details. 479-644-4601

Have a great rest of the week and a super weekend. Stay in touch with me.
